Housing Associations and Business Continuity
In 1998 the Housing Corporation introduced risk management into Performance Standards. In 2002 the Corporation issued its Regulatory Code which says that 'Housing associations must operate a framework that effectively identifies and manages risks, identifying all major risks that might prevent them achieving their objectives, with the necessary arrangements to manage risks and mitigate their effects'.
Housing Associations face increasing challenges through the need for regulatory compliance and an ever growing demand for social housing. Some housing associations offer support for older people, people with disabilities and learning difficulties, and people who have been homeless. In order to continue to provide homes and core community services for the most vulnerable members of the community, it is important for Housing Associations to embrace business continuity as a discipline that involves every aspect of their operation.
